What’s the difference between a donation and a pledge?
A donation is a payment made now. Donations provide funds directly into Muirneag’s bank account, helping us cover our modest ongoing costs and demonstrating to other funders that the project is making real progress towards its funding target.
A pledge is a promise to make a donation in the future. Pledges are particularly valuable for larger donations, where supporters may prefer to commit funds now but release them once there is a clear line of sight to the project moving into the build phase.
Both donations and pledges are hugely appreciated and help us demonstrate the support behind bringing Muirneag back to life.

We are hugely grateful for your support for the Muirneag Project. We are currently in the fundraising phase andyour donation is an important step towards us achieving our funding target to start the build phase of the project.
Donations provide direct reserves in the bank account to cover our very modest ongoing operating costs andprovide confidence to other funders that we are progressing towards our funding target.Pledges are also gratefully accepted, recognising that some donors are more confident in releasing donationsonce there is line of sight to the project progressing into build phase.
In the unlikely event that we are not successful in securing sufficient funds to start the project we may, in our solediscretion, pass donations on to other charitable organisations with the same or very similar objectives (includingheritage skills, sail training and youth development).
Any donations made may be deployed quickly to the Muirneag project and used either directly for projectpurposes and to pay any expenses or costs which are necessary for the project to succeed.
Accordingly, anyonward payment may be less than the amount originally donated.
Minimal amounts may be treated differently tolarger amounts.
We will only refund donations where we are required by law to do so.
Donors will be notified ofany significant changes to the use of funds via the Muirneag na Mara website (www.muirneag.org) and Newsletter.
